We are a large Scout Group with several sections covering all age groups (6 to 18) but we have been having limited success in our efforts to recruit adult volunteers to maintain these sections. In the last few years we have had to close 2 Beaver Colonies due to a lack of leaders, the remaining Colony is just beginning to have some success in attracting adults. One of our 2 Scout Troops has also had to close due to a lack of adult volunteers. All of this is very disappointing. We have a very long waiting list for Beavers and have had to start a waiting list for Cubs too. The demand for Scout places has now outstripped our ability to meet it, the Troop is full. From now onwards most of the Cubs looking to move in Scouts will first have to go on a waiting list, this is very disappointing. We really could do with recruiting several more adult volunteers so that we can work towards opening extra Beaver, Cub and Scout sections to try and provide enough places for all the young people that want to join.
Please help us, if you don't think it's for you maybe you know someone else who might be interested. Volunteers don't need to be parents, we only need over 18 year olds who have an interest and are prepared to undertake a DBS check and carry out some basic training.
